UNSW has overarching 5-year goals for the "Digital Placemaking of the Campus Experience". As a small step towards that, UNSW commissioned an app for O-Week to help students create memorable moments in their first week at University. With international students in mind, student photos are "photobombed" by iconic Australian animals around the campus.

TECHNICALS

Hardware: iOS and Android

Software: Unity 3D using Vuforia SDK

Language: C#

The original idea was to use campus buildings and icons to trigger AR content. The AR technology of the time wasn't stable enough to make that idea work. A more traditional app using markers was the end result.
